Sapphire Systems are running down loneliness after raising an impressive £2,000 for Contact the Elderly.
A team of 11 staff from Sapphire took part in a race through Hyde Park, London, where runners could complete either a 5km or 10km course.
Jan Phayre, Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator for Sapphire Systems, said: “Each year we run a race to raise money for our chosen charity. This year we tried a new type of race. We had such great weather and the atmosphere was brilliant. We were proud to be part of something so positive.”
Runner Adele Fensham said: “It was lovely to get to know people outside of the office, there was a real sense of comradery and it was really good fun.”
Sapphire Systems provides world class IT and business software and support globally and have supported Contact the Elderly for two years. We value their continued support as it means we can extend our lifeline of friendship to more older people who need our service.
The money raised from the race is added to other funds they have raised so far, taking their current total to over £3,000. Staff are so enthusiastic about the cause they are keen to keep organising events to raise money for our work, including a tea party and a quiz night.
Fund raising with your colleagues or team of staff is a brilliant way to support Contact the Elderly, which does vital work in communities in England, Scotland and Wales. Plus, it’s a great way to build rapport between colleagues and bring people together for a worthy cause.
