To coincide with the new funding to tackle loneliness, People’s Postcode Lottery invited 20 of our older guests along to enjoy a delightful afternoon tea with staff at its Headquarters in Edinburgh.
Contact the Elderly have received £550,000 to date from players of the lottery which has gone towards developing new, and supporting existing, groups.
Lorna Dunbar, Support Officer for East Scotland said: “The hugely supportive People’s Postcode Lottery hosted a wonderful afternoon tea party for some of our Edinburgh guests and volunteers at their lovely office in Charlotte Square . It was a fantastic afternoon where our guests and volunteers got a chance to talk to lots of members of staff – and of course eat cake. Thank you so much for a really special afternoon.”
This particular tea party at People’s Postcode Lottery’s also marked an amazing milestone for the lottery, which celebrated raising more than £310 million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally since 2005, and employing over 300 people.
Lisa Belletty, Health and Wellbeing Programmes Advisor, said: “Our Contact the Elderly tea party was a great experience! It was a really nice chance to get to chat to people from the older generation, which I don’t often not having any grandparents – I heard lots of stories about what Edinburgh was like when some of the women I met were growing up and how it’s changed over the years.”
