Contact the Elderly has been shortlisted in two categories for one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the sector. The Charity Times Awards, which are now in their 18th year of celebrating best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector, have recognised Contact the Elderly in the Charity of the Year and Fundraising Team of the Year categories.
We have also been receiving plenty of recognition for our work in Scotland throughout this year, with Contact the Elderly recently announced as a finalist in the Carers of the Year category in the People Make Glasgow Inspiring City Awards as well as being named joint winners of the Reducing Vulnerability category in the Highland Third Sector Awards.
These award announcements come only two months after Contact the Elderly was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Social Care, Advice and Support category of The Charity Awards 2017 for our Spare Chair Sunday project, which inspired thousands of volunteers to share a hot meal with an older person in their community.
Acting CEO Cliff Rich says: “It is a real honour to be nominated for two awards at the Charity Times Awards this year. Being recognised in this way not only highlights the success of the Fundraising Team in Contact the Elderly’s jubilee year, but also the progress that the charity as a whole has made in achieving our goal of combatting loneliness and social isolation.
“All of our staff and volunteers in Scotland work tirelessly to provide our service to local communities, so it is especially encouraging that we are also being rewarded for the achievements in these areas.”
The Charity Times Awards winners will be announced on October 4 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London, while the People Make Glasgow Inspiring City Awards winners will be announced on September 7.
