Contact the Elderly celebrates Aviva funding

Contact the Elderly kicked off 2017 in brilliant style with a donation of £10,000 from the Aviva Community Fund.

The winners of the 2016 Aviva Community Fund were announced on 10 January and the funds will help support our existing groups, ensuring our older guests continue to have regular, free tea parties to look forward to throughout the year.

Contact the Elderly competed with hundreds of local organisations around the UK to receive funding as part of the Aviva Community Fund 2016. The annual nationwide initiative, which launched in September, called upon Aviva customers and passionate charity supporters to submit a project close to their heart to be in with a chance of securing funding ranging from £1,000 up to £25,000.

Each organisation had to galvanise the support of their local community to vote for their entry in one of six categories: health, disability and well-being; supporting the younger generation; supporting the older generation; sport in the community; environment (in association with The Mirror) and community support. Over 5 million votes were placed with more than 450 projects benefitting overall!

Debra Bollan, Fundraising Manager for Contact the Elderly, says: “We are thrilled to receive this fantastic donation from the Aviva Community Fund and would like to say a big thank you to all of our supporters who voted for us and helped spread the word; supporting a charity really can take many forms! We were up against many other brilliant charities and local projects but your support was such an encouragement. We are looking forward to putting this donation to good use as we continue to make a real difference in the lives of our older guests, combatting loneliness and social isolation."
