A Bristol-based housebuilder pledged its support to an organisation which is dedicated to helping local elderly people to socialise, over the festive period.
Bellway South West, which is based at Aztec West Business Park, donated £500 to support a Christmas tea party for around 60 people. The money paid for the hire of the hall, a raffle for the attendees to enjoy and food for all.
Rachel Way, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “At Bellway, we don’t just build houses, we look to enhance and support the communities in which we build.
“When we heard about the work being done in the area to help combat loneliness, we wanted to help in any way we could.
“We’re so happy that our donation has enabled Bristol people to socialise and enjoy each other’s company.”
Fiona Franklin, South West Support Officer for Contact the Elderly, said: “Christmas is a particularly hard time for some, so it’s fantastic that Bellway has helped us spread some festive cheer by bringing people together.
“For many older people, this may be their only Christmas outing, so it was great to see everyone having such a lovely time together.
“We’d like to say thank you to Bellway for their generous donation and also ask everyone reading this to spare a thought for the elderly over the festive period. Even stopping for just a five-minute chat with someone who needs it can really make their day.”
