Vintage Tea with BCG

The Boston Consulting Group, a huge international consulting company with over 75 offices across the globe, hosted a lovely tea party on Friday 6th July for 20 of our older guests in London.

All 600 staff members in its London office were given the opportunity to donate a day to one of three charities, Contact the Elderly being one of them. With the help of The Perfect Vintage Tea Booklet, the company decorated it’s lower ground floor common room with polka dot napkins and elegant cake stands, and put on a delicious spread of sandwiches, cakes, scones and macaroons that were out of this world!

Thanks to BCG, who kindly provided taxis and drivers for all of our guests, all of our guests arrived on time and in comfort, and the afternoon ran very smoothly. The highlight for everybody including our older guests and staff from National Office, was the fantastic professional dancing duo (pictured) organised as a surprise by the BCG team. They danced their way from the Jitterbug and the Charleston to the Lindy Hop and the Hand Jive, and our older guests absolutely loved it!

Evelyn, 96 from the Lambeth 2 group had the most marvellous time and remembered all of the dances. She had her legs tapping and swinging the whole way through!

The tea party was a real treat for our older guests, and was also a real eye opener for the attentive staff at BCG. Young BCGer Andrew spent a lot of time with Trevor, 80, from the Camden 73 group, and after helping him to his cab and saying farewell, he turned to his colleagues and said ‘that man is my new hero’.

As well as hosting a Perfect Vintage Tea for Contact the Elderly, BCG staff are also continuing to support us by raising money via the online fundraising software Ploink, which allows people to drop virtual coins into a virtual piggy bank, and we have also recruited BCGer Lucy, as a new driver.

It’s not too late to host your Perfect Vintage Tea as an individual or as a corporate supporter. To request your free Perfect Vintage Tea booklet email info@contact-the-elderly.org.uk or download it here
