“I’m on my own 24 hours a day except for the milkman. You see no one, hear no one, except for the milkman. Man wasn’t meant to be alone.” Bill, 87
Over 1 million people living in the UK are, like Bill, socially isolated. They have little or no contact with either family or friends, and their numbers are rising. In our rapidly ageing population it is predicted that 2.2 million over 65s will be isolated by 2021 .
Contact the Elderly is working to change this. Together with the help of our network of fantastic volunteers and supporters, we help isolated elderly people, by replicating, as near as possible, the hospitality they would receive if they had friends or family nearby.
We need your help to continue with this life-enhancing work.

“It’s no exaggeration – the Contact gatherings are the one bright light in my life – it’s fantastic. The volunteers are lovely personalities and you are welcomed into people’s homes and we sometimes sit in a nice garden. You meet other elderly people, have a chat and a laugh with them. It’s heaven.” Bill, 87
